About Us The Nebraska Wanderfreunde Trailblazers PO Box 8147 Omaha, NE 68108-8147 The Nebraska Wanderfreunde Trailblazers was organized in the spring of 1979 and became the 16th club in the American Volkssport Association (AVA). We hold the honor of being the first AVA Volkssport club in Nebraska. Volkssport, (meaning people's sport) started in 1963 in southern Germany and the International Volkssport Verband (IVV) was formed. The United States became a member country of the IVV in 1979. The AVA has approximately 400 clubs in the USA. The word "Wanderfreunde" is German for "hiking friends."
